I believe in making the most of any budget, regardless of size and I believe that much of what makes a good building is freely available – the quality of the light, access to fresh air and a focus on the comfort of the people inside all cost nothing and can be made part of any building.
Having lived in Ballina and practiced architecture in the Northern Rivers for 15 years, I understand the specific climatic conditions that every building built here needs to weather. The path of the sun, the direction of the wind and the power of the rain are all addressed in every design. Plus, the ability to enjoy our beautiful climate from both inside and out is one of the drivers that most clients bring to the design process.
The aesthetics of the project are also often client-led, taking into account their own style preferences or, in the case of renovation, working with what inspires them about the existing property. Again, it’s the simplicity of good materials used in well thought out spaces that interests me most.
