The Snake Mullumbimby

This is my entry in the 2016 Sustainable Tiny Homes Design Competition, which was part of the Sustainable House Day, Northern Rivers. The professional category asked for 8 residences on a 900m² block, following the ethos of the Pocket Neighbourhood movement.

The Snake is 8 tiny houses, in four different configurations, snaking their way through the site under one roof. Each unit is between 26m² – 35m² internally and is fully self-contained. The unit types are one bedroom, one and a half bedroom, two bedrooms and wheelchair accessible, allowing for a range of household types to live communally.

While Tiny house living is certainly not for everyone, I feel that tiny houses have the clever use of space that I try to bring to all my architecture. Plus, it was super fun to design.
